Our board
Romeo Rabbit Rescue is managed by a Board of Directors that currently consists of five individuals, including the Executive Director.

Erin Silas
Executive Director, Founder
Erin is a retired professional martial artist, master instructor, and stunt performer. After selling her martial art academy, she married her current husband, Robin, and focused her time on raising and homeschooling their six children. Erin's first time as bun mom to Axl and Latte had a profound impact on her. It was then she realized everything she had been raised to believe about caring for domestic rabbits was wrong. She founded RRR in July, 2021, after rescuing 11 baby bunnies from the meat market and has been passionate about helping the world to understand domestic rabbits as house pets ever since.

Diane Bendig
Treasurer
Diane and her husband, Rob, have three grown children. Diane is a labor and delivery nurse at the Alternative Birthing Center in Southfield. Diane became RR R's first volunteer when she offered to help clean pens in March, 2022. She quickly became dedicated as a volunteer and was the first to join our board of directors later that year. Diane devotes time to care for our rescue rabbits as well as acting as our treasurer. She currently fosters Lynyrd and Skynyrd and is proud bun mom to RRR alumni, Stormy and Skye. When she's not delivering babies or cleaning rabbit pens, Diane enjoys weekends away with Rob at their cabin.

Jessica Hartman
Technology Coordinator
Jessica and her husband, Lee, have three children together. Jessica is a senior technical writer for a large healthcare company. She also owns her own accessibility remediation consulting company. Well versed in animal rescue, Jessica joined our team of volunteers after adopting their first of a few rabbits from RRR. Jessica believes that "no life is insignificant and when an animal is brought into this world to be loved as a pet, it deserves every chance to have that loving environment." In addition to providing website maintenance and technical support, Jessica also fosters several RRR rabbits. In her free time, Jessica enjoys relaxing at her cottage, paddle boarding, cycling, painting, & traveling.

Kelly Smalley
Public Relations
Kelly and her husband, Dave, have two grown daughters. Kelly is a Materials Supervisor at Avancez Industries and enjoys working on stained glass. Kelly's first experience with bunnies came when she found an abandoned domestic rabbit in her yard. She brought Basil to RRR and offered to foster her until an adoptive home could be found. She later began volunteering for RRR and ultimately joined the board of directors. She volunteers her time to care for RRR rabbits, offers support in public relations and currently fosters Jeepers, who she rescued from a used car dealership parking lot during frigid winter temps.

Michelle Sutton
Intake Coordinator
Michelle, an automotive technician at Dean Sellers Ford, is married to Tyler and together they are the proud bun parents of Holland Lop trio, Trixie, Pixie, and RRR Alumni, Speedy. She enjoys working on project cars and going to car meets with her "husbun. " As a child, Michelle's bunnies were kept in small cages with water bottles and no hay or veterinary care. As an adult, she realized rabbits require so much better! Now, her spoiled trio enjoy an indoor free roam life! Michelle joined RRR to help spread awareness about proper rabbit care. In addition to caring for RRR rabbits, she fosters sweet Daisy Mae and volunteers as the intake coordinator.
